meet2respect  – Tandem Tour 2018

(Deutsche Version)

On June 24, 2018 our annual meet2respect  bicycle parade against violence, bullying, agitation and hate directed against Jews and Muslims, will start at 15:30 p.m. from the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and will conclude with a rally at the Bebelplatz (Unter den Linden).

What drives people to antisemitism or islamophobia? Meet those of us who do not have such prejudices. Join us in a rally! Meet a Jew and an Arab, a rabbi and an imam, on the same tandem.

Let us remind all Muslims in the City that violence is not compatible with Islam. And offer them a picture of Jewish / Muslim tandems as a symbol of peaceable co-existence.

The Jewish/Muslim bicycle tandems will be followed by hundreds of single bicyclists – Atheists, Christens, Jews, Muslims, and all those who want to rally against prejudice of all sorts.

What – Bicycle parade featuring some 25 tandems with Jewish/Muslim pairs and a large number of single bicyclists will start at the Holocaust-Memorial (Lennéstraße/Kemperplatz), make stops in remembrance of attacks on Jewish and Muslim institutions and finish at Bebelplatz (Unter den Linden), where book burning took place in 1933.

When – Sunday, June 24, 2018, tandem tour from 15:30-17:00 h and final rally and stage program from 17.00-20:00 h.

Where – The parade will be led by some 25 bicycle tandems, each with someone representing Jewry and the other representing Islam and will be followed by bicyclists who support the concerns of meet2respect.
